Main Street Ramp Closure for Safety Improvements on I-35E
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has temporarily closed the southbound Main Street ramp onto I-35E in Lewisville for safety improvements. Engineers are working on designing a safer, alternative entrance ramp amid the ongoing highway construction. The timeline for the opening of the new ramp is currently unavailable. In the meantime, southbound traffic will be rerouted through the Main Street intersection to the next available ramp.
The closure comes after city officials raised concerns over the ramp’s safety, noting visibility and length issues. Local call logs show over a dozen accidents at this location in recent months. TxDOT responded swiftly to the data, agreeing to make adjustments. Signal changes and lane markings have been added to help guide traffic to the next entrance ramp, located south of Main Street.
