Community News

Andy's Bar & El Santo Closing, Paschall's to Remain Open

After three decades of serving the Denton community, Andy’s Bar has officially closed its doors on February 28th. Known for its live music, relaxed atmosphere, and loyal following, Andy’s has been a local favorite and a key part of the nightlife scene for over 30 years. In addition, El Santo will also be closing, marking the end of an era for both establishments. But it’s not all bad news—Paschall’s, another cherished local spot, will remain open and continue to be a place where the community can gather.

While we say farewell to Andy’s and El Santo, we’ll carry the memories of those unforgettable nights and look ahead to new experiences in Denton. Stay tuned for updates on what might take its place, and let's continue supporting our local spots as Denton evolves.

Community Updates:

  • Wind Advisory and Fire Danger in Denton County: Denton County is recovering from a strong wind advisory that brought gusts up to 50 mph overnight from Monday to Tuesday, along with the possibility of small-scale tornadoes early Tuesday morning. The winds created hazardous driving conditions, especially for morning commuters, and caused debris to be scattered across roadways. As of Wednesday, the fire danger level in Denton County has dropped to "high" risk, but the impact of the dry winds remains a concern. Residents are urged to continue exercising caution outdoors, avoid open burning, and stay alert for any additional weather changes in the coming days. (Denton Record Chronicle)

  • Flower Mound Honors WWII Veteran with Plaza Naming: The Flower Mound Town Council has voted unanimously to name the Veterans Plaza at the Peters Colony Memorial Park in honor of Chief Warrant Officer Douglas A. Brown. A local WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, Brown has spent decades giving back to the community, including refurbishing over 1,300 computers for veterans seeking employment. Brown, who will turn 100 in September, has also served as an election judge, organized Veterans and Memorial Day events, and dedicated himself to the well-being of other veterans. The plaza, located at 3201 Peters Colony Road, is expected to be completed later this year. This tribute recognizes Brown's lifetime of service and devotion to both his country and community.(Cross Timbers Gazette)
